Brake: May must not deny Parliament and public a say over Brexit deal

Commenting on today's Commons liaison committee hearing, during which Theresa May refused to commit to giving MPs a vote over the final Brexit deal, Liberal Democrat Shadow Foreign Secretary Tom Brake said:

“The European Parliament will get a vote on the final Brexit deal, it would be absurd if the UK Parliament and more importantly the British public were denied a say”

“Theresa May must stop trying to duck accountability by repeating empty platitudes.

“We need clear answers over the Government’s plans, including whether it will stand up for Britain’s membership of the Single Market and if it will seek a transitional deal.

“There must be proper accountability and democracy both at the beginning and the end of this process."
