Cllr Rob Appleyard and Joanna Wright are Liberal Democrats committed to improving the local environment.
Both of us recognise the benefits of reducing our Carbon Footprint locally and how creating a Green Heart within local government is necessary to combat climate change. Working together we have put forward the Climate Emergency Motion, which will be tabled to B&NES Council in March. This motion demands that Bath becomes Zero Carbon, Zero Waste.
We are asking that an action plan is developed in the next 6 months to make B&NES net-zero carbon as soon as possible and increase local resilience to climate impacts.
We would like the Council to generate a Carbon Literacy campaign that gives residents awareness of carbon dioxide costs and the impact of everyday activities to create the ability and motivation to reduce emissions. Presently in the UK our carbon output pe person is approximately 7kg a year. Amazingly an email is 4g of carbon and an email with attachment is 50g. How many emails do we each send a day?
