Ruth came to Weston as a young child and has lived here most of her life. She represents B&NES in the Great Spa Towns of Europe Association and the Bath World Heritage Enhancement Fund, and is a keen supporter of international friendship and twinning partnerships. Ruth coordinates the Lansdown Lane Community Speed Watch scheme and also volunteers with Weston Litter Group, Love Weston Cafe, Love Weston Library and in the World Heritage Centre in York Street. Ruth took up cycling again in 2020 and regularly cycles to and from the city centre.
