Working to improve our local parks

By Jessica David, Oct 23, 2019 9:10

I have been meeting with local residents looking after the green spaces across Moorlands including Moorlands Park, the Sandpits playground and the Oval green space. These groups do a brilliant job helping to organise activities and raise money to improve and maintain our parks.

In September, I joined other local residents to repaint sections of the railings along Moorlands Park. Community payback teams will also be helping with other sections of the railings over the next month.

It's important that we all pull together to look after our parks so that families are able to enjoy them and we as a community can take pride in them. With this in mind,  there are three community litter picking event will take place across Moorlands as part of the Council's Big Community Clear Up. If you can spare an hour or so do come and join us to help tidy up our local parks and green spaces:

  • Moorlands Park: Saturday 19th October. Organised by the Friends of Moorlands Park.
  • Oval green space: Saturday 26th October (from 10am). Organised by the Oval Community Group.
  • Sandpits playground: Saturday 26th October (from 2pm). Organised by the Friends of Sandpits playground.
