Moorlands Transport Problems Highlighted By Local Councillor

The transport and parking problems across Moorlands ward were listed by Councillor Jess David in her speech on the Council budget. Jess welcomed the extra resource being put into the Council’s Highways Team.

Jess said: “The vast majority of issues that residents raise with me concern traffic and transport. Commuter and visitor parking cause real problems for local residents. Like many parts of Bath and North East Somerset, there are also issues with rat-running and speeding. Meanwhile, in the face of the climate emergency, we need to see a shift away from private car use as we know it, with fewer car journeys per person and greater use of public transport”.

“I know there are no quick fixes - but I welcome the extra resource and ambition of this council to develop more people friendly transport policies. This will include exploring how we can create low traffic neighbourhoods; extending residents parking fairly, without pushing problems into neighbouring communities and working with the West of England Combined Authority to improve local bus services”.
