Hossein Pirooz, the local dad standing up for Saltford

Hossein Pirooz isn’t a politician - he’s a local dad who cares deeply about the community he calls home. That’s why he’s standing for the Lib Dems in the B&NES Council Saltford ward by-election on 16th January.

“I’m not here to play politics,” Hossein said. “I’m just someone who cares about where I live and want to make sure Saltford remains a fantastic place for families like mine. My priorities for our area are clear - we need to protect our green spaces, continue to improve local public services and protect Saltford from plans like the 24/7 bus lanes on the by-pass. I’ll always put the needs of local people first - you wouldn’t expect anything less.”
Born and raised in the Bath and Bristol area, Hossein has a deep connection to the community. Living on the A4 with his wife and two children, working as a lawyer, he’s been a dedicated member of the Liberal Democrats for over 15 years, driven by a passion for making a difference.
Hossein has already shown he’ll stand up for Saltford, leading the fight against the West of England Combined Authority’s flawed 24/7 bus lane plans. Working alongside Lib Dem Cllr Duncan Hounsell, he is a strong local voice who will protect Saltford village and the villages nearby. The proposed expansion of Bristol Airport is worrying residents whose nights will be disturbed by the increased numbers of flights.
Hossein Pirooz said:

“In Saltford, the Liberal Democrats have a proud record of delivering real results for residents. Recently, our councillors secured £1,000 for the new community group Saltford4Nature and set aside over £500,000 for crucial road and traffic improvements in the coming years while keeping the project to re-open Saltford railway station on track. From protecting the green belt to ensuring its village status is respected, the Lib Dems have always put Saltford first.
“I share this commitment and will bring energy and fresh ideas to build on this progress. I understand the issues that matter to residents, from tackling traffic problems to supporting local community groups. I will work hard to stand up for Saltford.”
