Lib Dem administration secures future of Jolly’s

Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Liberal Democrat administration has announced that independent department store group Morleys Stores Ltd will reopen the historic Jolly’s store in Milsom Street, Bath.

Cllr Kevin Guy, Bath & North East Somerset Council leader, said: “Morleys Stores will bring an exciting shopping experience to residents and visitors alike. I am delighted to welcome the business to our vibrant city and to one of Bath’s most loved stores.

“The iconic Jolly’s building is owned by the council, and we have been working hard over the past 18 months to secure its future and restore its position as the anchor for Milsom Street. The store will operate under the Jolly’s name.”

Morleys Department Stores is renowned for its exceptional customer service and diverse range of high-quality products.

Cllr Mark Elliott, cabinet member for Resources, added: “We set out the council’s commitment to the local economy in our ten-year Economic Strategy and this investment recognises our city’s great retail offer.”

The building will undergo essential restoration work. Morleys Department Stores aims to open in Jolly’s in spring 2026.
