Ray Love, a Writhlington Governor and volunteer at Peasedown Methodist Church is standing for election to Peasedown Parish Council in a by election on Monday the 15th of August. Ray, who has lived in the village for three years has extended family in Peasedown and has come to be close to them.
Ray has worked extensively with Youth Counselling organisations for 14 to 19 year olds, he is a founder and main Trustee of Youth Mental Health Befrienders and was a magistrate for four years.
Ray is standing for the Parish as he hopes to be a fresh face with lots of experience as in his time of 16 years as a City Councillor Chairing committees on Social Welfare and Housing and on his speciality of Mental Health, organising people to stop the closure of Acute Beds in major hospitals.
In Peasedown, Ray is aware of the overcrowding at Peasedown Primary School and the need for a roundabout at the village junction with the A367 Radstock Road. Many people may not be aware that the contract on the houses built in the early ‘90s, to keep the grass verges in good condition, is still with the original contractors and has never been taken over by B&NES, Ray thinks this is shameful. Also with the building of the new pharmacy at Hillcrest Surgery what is to happen to the existing pharmacy in the village and how will it affect elderly people at that end of the village?
