North East Somerset Liberal Democrats were celebrating last night, when local School Governor Ray Love, was elected to Peasedown St John Parish Council.

Ray, who has lived in the village for the past three years, is currently a school governor at Writhlington Secondary School, and has previous experience in setting up charities helping young people with mental health issues.

Ray said: “I would like to thank Peasedown residents for the confidence they have shown in me. I am proud to live in Peasedown St John and I want to work to make our community even better. There are things that are being missed by Bath and North East Somerset Council. We need to get pathways cleared, and find a solution to the dangerous speed of cars on the bypass.”

With his election, Ray is the first Lib Dem to win an election at any level in Peasedown for five years. Ray commented: “The Lib Dems are still fighting for local people, and we will continue to work hard all year round for the people in our communities.”
